MAINE
Food and Medicine
Food AND Medicine (FAM)’s mission is to organize, educate, and empower workers and our communities in the fight for economic and social justice. FAM believes that by working together with unions, farmers, community groups, small businesses, and faith-based organizations we will create solutions and positive change.

Maine Fair Trade Campaign
The Maine Fair Trade Campaign is a coalition of 53 organizations across the state of Maine.  Our unique cross-sector alliance works together to leverage power to make change in the economy. We educate, organize, and mobilize the members of our coalition member organizations.

Maine Migrant Health Program
Maine Migrant Health Program is our state’s only farmworker health organization. Our collaborative model involves folks who carry the commitment to make a difference in the lives of Maine’s farmworkers. By linking agricultural workers to care and services, we aim to reduce health disparities and inequities of access for this workforce. Putting fruits and vegetables on ALL or our tables is not only vital work, it positively impacts our collective health. MMHP’s mobile medical units bring primary care to farmworkers across the state.

Defending Water for Life in Maine
Today, one in 6 people lack access to safe, affordable water and the United Nations expects this number to rise.  Amid this crisis, some of the world’s wealthiest corporations–like Nestlé and Coca-Cola–are making a profit, often at the expense of the poor.  Water, like air, is a necessity of human life.  It is also, according to Fortune magazine, “One of the world’s great business opportunities.  It promises to be to the 21st century what oil was to the 20th.”  A vibrant international movement is challenging the corporate control of this precious resource, and defending water as a public good and an inalienable right.

Crown of Maine Organic Cooperative
Dedicated to serving Maine since 1995, Crown O’ Maine distributes locally grown produce across the length and breadth of Maine. COMOC welcomes your buying club, restaurant, or neighborhood retail establishment to a garden of earthly delights produced by your local farmers, fishermen, and artisans.

NATIONAL
National Family Farm Coalition
The National Family Farm Coalition represents family farm and rural groups whose members face the challenge of the deepening economic recession in rural communities. The NFFC was founded in 1986.

U.S. Working Group on the Food Crisis

The global food crisis has motivated diverse groups in the US – including progressive labor, faith, indigenous, community food, farm, environmental, and trade justice groups – to join forces in response.  In late spring of 2008, a number of groups representing different areas of the food system came together to form the U.S. Working Group on the Food Crisis.  The Working Group’s goal has been to bring attention to the underlying causes of the crisis and to promote transformative solutions to fix our broken food system.
